Greetings from Captain Ali. I have always had a love and passion for the ocean ever since I was introduced to it at the young age of five on the big Island of Hawaii in Kaliua Kona. One of my first encounters with the ocean at this age was when a giant 25 foot wave swept me out to sea by a rip current. I learned how to swim rather quickly at that point, as well gained my respect and passion for our beautiful oceans of the world.
I spent most of my childhood swimming and surfing the huge waves of Hawaii. I later moved to Oregon where I started my sailing experience, windsurfing and kitesurfing in the Columbia Gorge. I enjoyed it so much that I started sailing off the coasts of California and Oregon.
I have been sailing for the past 20 years. I have worked as Captain on other sailing vessels, The Heritage of Miami, an 85 foot gaff rigged top sail schooner and on the last wooden schooner built in the Bahamas the 65 foot WH Albury.
I have extensive sailing experience and teach all levels of sailing from beginners to experienced and navigating the high seas. I also enjoy teaching local activities, for example: spear-fishing, surfing, kayaking and catching local fish and shellfish (Conch, lion fish etc) and cleaning them so we all can enjoy fresh fish to eat.
My Job is my passion I am relaxed, calm nature and will ensure you have an amazing adventure together!
I hold a 100 ton United States Coast Guard License. Master of steam, motor or auxiliary sail vessels.
